AEC-Q100 qualified 10BASE-T1S Ethernet connectivity with integrated MAC-PHY, PLCA support, advanced diagnostics, and more
onsemi's T30HM1TS2500 combines a 10BASE-T1S Ethernet PHY and Media Access Controller into a single device, simplifying the implementation of multi-node Ethernet networks over a shared unshielded twisted pair medium. Compliant with IEEE 802.3cg, the device supports 10 Mbps communication and incorporates Physical Layer Collision Avoidance (PLCA) technology to improve deterministic network performance in shared bus topologies.
As automotive zonal architectures and industrial control systems continue to adopt Ethernet-based communication, designers often face challenges related to network complexity, node synchronization, wiring costs, and diagnostics. The T30HM1TS2500 helps address these challenges by integrating MAC and PHY functionality, supporting OPEN Alliance standards, and providing advanced capabilities such as topology discovery, signal quality monitoring, timestamping, harness defect detection, and coordinator redundancy.
The device communicates with host controllers through an OPEN Alliance TC6 compliant SPI interface operating at up to 25 MHz. Low power sleep functionality, multiple wake-up options, direct battery connectivity up to 48 V, and comprehensive diagnostic features make it suitable for a wide range of connected automotive and industrial applications.
