Maxim Integrated MAX32660 32-bit Microcontroller

Advanced power management makes 32-bit MCU ideal for battery-powered and wireless sensor applications

Part of Maxim Integrated’s DARWIN family, the MAX32660 is a small and ultra-low power 32-bit microcontroller for use in battery-powered devices and wireless sensors.

The MAX32660 packs a flexible and versatile power management unit with the Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor core in the industry’s smallest form factors: a 1.6mm x 1.6mm, 16-bump WLP, a 4mm x 4mm, 20-pin TQFN-EP, or a 3mm x 3mm, 24-pin TQFN-EP.

The power management unit helps designers to extend run-time between charges in battery-powered applications. In active mode when executing from Flash memory, the MAX32660 draws just 85μA/MHz. In low-power back-up mode, it draws 2μA with full memory retention on a 1.8V supply. In power-down mode with the real-time clock running, current is only 450nA.

Because of these low-power characteristics, the MAX32660 enables developers to realize designs which implement complex sensor processing without compromising battery life. It also offers legacy designs an easy and low-cost upgrade path from an 8- or 16-bit microcontroller.

The device integrates sufficient memory resources to accommodate application and sensor code. An optional bootloader operating through an I2C, UART, or serial peripheral interface is available.
