The ST87M01 module family from STMicroelectronics delivers high-performance LTE Cat NB2 (3GPP Release 15) connectivity with integrated GNSS positioning in an ultra-compact, power-efficient design. Ideal for global industrial IoT deployments, these modules support a broad range of frequency bands, ensuring extended regional and worldwide NB-IoT coverage.

With built-in GNSS support, the ST87M01 enables accurate positioning using multiple satellite constellations, making it well-suited for location-sensitive applications like asset tracking and smart monitoring. Its small footprint—just 10.6 mm x 12.8 mm in an LGA package—makes it an excellent fit for space-constrained designs that demand high functionality without compromising on size.

Optimized for low-power operation, the ST87M01 series incorporates advanced power-saving features such as Power Saving Mode (PSM), Extended Discontinuous Reception (eDRX), and an interrupt-driven wake-up interface. Combined with industrial-grade durability and ultra-low power silicon, these modules are capable of supporting long battery life even in demanding environments.

The ST87M01 also comes equipped with embedded internet protocols including TCP/IP, TLS/DTLS, CoAP, LwM2M, MQTT, and HTTP/HTTPS, plus support for PDU SMS—enabling flexible connectivity for a broad set of LPWAN-based IoT applications.

Each module is rigorously tested, traceable, and qualified to meet ST’s high standards for industrial reliability, ensuring consistent performance over 15 years of field use. Firmware updates may be provided by STMicroelectronics, and customers are encouraged to check the latest versions at www.st.com before production.

As a cellular connectivity module, the device operates on different frequency bands depending on the region. As a result, the European and U.S. versions support different network frequencies and certification requirements. The ST87M01-1301 version is intended for use in Europe and will not operate or connect to cellular networks in the United States. In addition, the ST87M01-1301 version does not include certain certifications required for deployment in the U.S. market.
