Subject:Correction of marking text for XDPL8221 Description:Old : XDPL8221 new New : XDPL8221 nes Reason:The marking text of device XDPL8221 will be adjusted to identify new firmware version. Implementation date 2026-07-01
Description:Old:- XDPL8221 datasheet, Rev. 1.1- Errata Sheet, Rev. 1.3 - Firmware version 1.0.0 - Marking Text: XDPL8221 New:- XDPL8221 datasheet, Rev. 1.1- Errata Sheet, Rev. 1.4- Firmware version 1.1.0- Marking Text: XDPL8221 Reason:Firmware of product XDPL8221 was updated from version 1.0.0 to version 1.1.0. After firmware update one of the known issues mentioned in Errata Sheet, Rev. 1.3, is not given anymore. Furthermore a new marking text was created to ensure the new device can be distinguished.Intended start of delivery 2026-01-01
Detailed change information:Subject: Transfer of dedicated N-Channel MOSFET? products (Technology KSN) to Infineon Technologies (Kulim) Sdn. Bhd., Kulim, Malaysia in DSO package, and introduction of an additional assembly location at HANA Semiconductor (Ayutthaya, Thailand) Co. Ltd for PG-DSO-12-20 package.Reason: Next phase of Front End capacity expansion to support continuous increasing customer demand.
Part Status:
The XDPL8221 from Infineon is a digital dual-stage Power Factor Correction (PFC) and flyback power controller IC for AC-DC LED drivers which provides constant-current and constant-voltage outputs and supports PWM dimming functionality. The XDPL8221 is for use with dimmable LED lighting fixtures that operate from an AC mains power supply.
The XDPL8221 is a digital AC-DC power controller for use in LED drivers. It controls the conversion of the high input voltage to a lower-voltage, constant-current output suitable for driving LEDs, while applying power factor correction for compliance with power quality directives. It enables the user to easily configure important operating parameters such as dimming via a microcontroller’s UART interface.
Applications:
Features:
Benefits:
Because this Infineon device is a digital power controller, which provides various configuration options, it can be used to create multiple end product variants which have different operating characteristics (such as maximum drive current) but which share the same hardware. This makes the customer’s production and inventory management easier and reduces the number of stock-keeping units that it uses in production.
Infineon also supplies two reference designs based on the XDPL8221 for LED drivers with a maximum rated power of 50W and 100W.
