M95M04 by STMicroelectronics: The World’s First 4Mbit EEPROM to Support 4 Million Write Cycles
The M95M04 products from STMicroelectronics are 4Mbit Electrically Erasable Programmable Memories (EEPROMs) which access data, organized as 524,288 x 8 bits, through a fast Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) bus.
The SPI channel, which is rated for operation at a frequency of 10MHz at 85°C, helps accelerate system operation by enabling the host to fetch and store data faster. The M95M04 takes less than 0.5s to complete a sequential Read of 4Mbits of data. Write time of the EEPROM is 5ms for 512 bytes, and 5s for 4Mbits (512kbytes).
The M95M04 EEPROMs by STMicroelectronics feature a lockable page of 512 bytes for the protection of sensitive data. A special instruction set configures the page for read-only access.
These STMicroelectronics EEPROMs are rated for 4 million Write cycles at an operating temperature of 25°C. When used in a data logging application, this means that the M95M04 can perform one cycle every minute for longer than eight years.
The M95M04 EEPROMs by ST are also notable for their low-power operation. In stand-by mode, they draw just 2μA. Read and Write operations draw 3mA at 1.8V.

Evaluation Board
The X-NUCLEO-EEPRMA2 expansion board supports data Read and Write operations in the M24xx I²C and M95xx SPI EEPROM products.
The expansion board acts as an external storage device which can be used to store data such as manufacturing traceability, calibration, user settings, error flags, data logs and monitoring data to make applications more flexible and accurate.
The board is also suitable for the M24C02-FMC6TG, M24256-DFDW6TP, M24M01-DFMN6TP, M95040-RMC6TG, M95256-DFDW6TP.
