Microchip ATSAMA5D27 Wireless SOM1
Integrated wireless module combines high-performance processor system with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Microchip’s ATSAMA5D27 Wireless SOM1 is a small, single-sided System-on-Module (SoM) which incorporates a high-performance microprocessor backed by low-power DRAM memory combined with a chipset providing Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® connectivity.
By integrating processor, memory, wireless and power-management components into a single, ready-made module, Microchip simplifies the process of developing both the hardware and software elements of a new product design. It also makes it easier to implement the layout of the main application board, reducing the complexity and cost of the PCB.
This wireless SoM, which may be ordered with the part number ATSAMA5D27-WLSOM1, is based on the high-performance SAMA5D27 MPU, which features a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-A5 core. In the MPU system-in-package, the SAMA5D27 is supported by a 2Gbit LPDDR2 synchronous DRAM chip running at up to 500MHz.
The Microchip ATSAMA5D27 SoM also includes a WILC3000 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module. An MCP16502 Power Management IC (PMIC) provides a set of power rails which is optimized for the module. An SST26VF064BEUIT-104I/MF 64Mbit serial Quad I/O Flash memory unit provides non-volatile code storage.
The Microchip SoM is supplied with a free Linux® operating system distribution, and bare metal C code examples. Including an ATECC608A-TNGTLS Secure Element, the SoM supports the Arm TrustZone platform which provides secure memory space to trusted applications and peripherals.
The ATSAMA5D27-WLSOM1 occupies a board footprint of 41mm x 41mm.
