Allegro MicroSystems XtremeSense™ TMR Contactless Current Sensor

With 1 MHz bandwidth and programmable gain

The CT455 by Allegro MicroSystems is a high-bandwidth, low-noise contactless current sensor that leverages Allegro's patented XtremeSense tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) technology. This advanced design enables high-accuracy current measurements for a wide range of applications in consumer, enterprise, and industrial markets. The device supports two standard field ranges, sensing and translating the magnetic field into a linear analog output voltage.

For added flexibility, the CT455 is also available in a user-programmable variant, allowing end-of-line calibration of gain and offset. Although the sensor is preprogrammed to compensate for gain and offset temperature drift, the ability to adjust these parameters helps ease mechanical tolerances during sensor mounting, making integration simpler and more reliable.

The device boasts an output response time of less than 300 ns while maintaining a low current consumption of approximately 6 mA. It is available in two package options: an eight-lead small-outline integrated-circuit (SOIC) package and an industry-standard eight-lead thin-shrink small-outline package (TSSOP). Both options are low-profile, green, and RoHS compliant.
