Melexis MLX90382 Triaxis® Magnetic Position Sensor
Featuring high-speed accuracy
The Melexis MLX90382 is a monolithic magnetic position sensor IC that integrates a Triaxis® Hall magnetic front end, an analog-to-digital converter, digital hardware for high-speed signal processing and conditioning, and multiple output drivers. It is sensitive to three components of the magnetic flux density applied to the IC (Bx, By, and Bz) and to a differential magnetic field in the Z-axis.
By programming the sensor, users can select which axis pair is used to determine an angle. This flexibility, combined with the appropriate magnetic design, enables the MLX90382 to calculate both absolute and incremental positions of any rotating magnet. The MLX90382 offers five output modes:
- Industry-standard single-ended and differential ABI interface for incremental angular output
- Single-ended and differential UVW signal emulation for BLDC motors
- PWM interface
- SPI interface
- SSI interface with configurable content that supports functional safety requirements
Additionally, the SPI protocol includes a multi-slave synchronized readout capability.
