High-performance, single-inductor buck controllers with passthrough mode, seamless DCM/CCM transitions, and advanced R3™ technology for efficiency and compact designs

The Renesas RAA489300 and RAA489301 are high-performance 3-level buck controllers designed for applications requiring compact, efficient, and reliable voltage regulation. Both devices leverage Renesas R3™ Technology to enable:

  • Highly efficient light-load operation
  • Fast transient response
  • Seamless switching between discontinuous (DCM) and continuous (CCM) conduction modes

They also feature passthrough mode (PTM) in both forward and reverse directions for maximum efficiency when input and output voltages are identical. Independent control loops for input/output voltage and current provide precision, flexibility, and safety.

Both controllers include robust protection features (OCP, OVP, UVP, OTP) and support SMBus/I2C serial communication for customizable system-level parameters.
