Melexis MLX90632 Series Infrared Temperature Sensors

Perfect for consumer wearables where available space is limited

The Melexis MLX90632 infrared temperature sensor group is a miniature SMD thermometer IC for accurate non-contact temperature measurement, especially in thermally dynamic environments where space is limited.

Primary applications for the medical grade version can be found in ear and forehead body thermometers, health monitoring wearables and point of care applications.

The commercial grade version of the MLX90632 is applied in white goods, room temperature monitoring in smart thermostats or integration in portable electronics devices.

The MLX90632 is integrated in a tiny SMD package, which provides medical grade accuracy.

MLX90632 Features

  • Accurate and stable operation in thermally-challenging environments
  • 3x3x1 mm QFN package, eliminating the need for bulky TO-can packages
  • Factory-calibrated with I2C digital interface, 50° field of view
  • Commercial grade: Object temperatures between -20°C and 200°C with typical accuracy of ±1°C
  • Medical grade: Object temperatures between -20°C and 200°C with accuracy of ±0.2°C in the human body temperature range
  • -20°C and 85°C operational temperature range

Medical Grade MLX90632

A medical grade version of the Melexis MLX90632 is also available for body temperature measurements in applications such as health monitoring wearables and forehead/ear thermometers. The medical sensor is calibrated with an accuracy suitable for the narrow object temperature range of medical applications. The MLX90632 medical sensor applications include medical thermometers, smart glasses, and smart headphones.

As we become more conscious of our health and our environment, temperature sensing is now being added to many devices, including health monitoring devices in the form of medical body thermometers and smart wearable devices.
