Ultra-low power synchronous buck conversion for next-generation wearable and portable electronics

The AP61040 and AP61041 synchronous buck converters are ultra-low quiescent current power management solutions designed for space-constrained, battery-powered devices. Optimized for wearable electronics and low-energy mobile platforms, these converters deliver high efficiency, strong transient response, and stable output regulation while minimizing energy loss during light-load operation.

Both devices are well suited for applications such as fitness trackers, smart watches, and health monitoring systems, supporting low-power wireless connectivity and energy-sensitive embedded designs.

The converters operate across an input voltage range of 2.15 V to 5.5 V and provide 400 mA continuous output current capability with efficiency levels reaching up to 95%. Their ultra-low quiescent current characteristics help extend battery life in always-on sensing and communication devices.

The AP61040 and AP61041 are part of the low-power regulator portfolio supporting wearable and portable system architectures. The AP61040 supports three selectable output voltages through a single configuration pin, while the AP61041 offers programmable feedback voltage options using dual VSEL control pins, allowing designers to simplify external component selection and reduce bill of materials cost.

Protection features across both devices include undervoltage lockout, overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown, helping ensure safe and reliable system operation under varying load and environmental conditions.
