Microchip has released a new Product Documents for the MIC38C42/3/4/5 - BiCMOS Current-Mode PWM Controllers of devices.Notification Status: FinalDescription of Change: 1) Converted Micrel document MIC38C42/43/44/45 to Microchip data sheet DS20006436A. 2) Minor text changes throughout.Impacts to Data Sheet: NoneReason for Change: To Improve ProductivityChange Implementation Status: CompleteDate Document Changes Effective: 19 Oct 2020NOTE: Please be advised that this is a change to the document only the product has not been changed
Description of Change:Qualification of G600V as an additional/alternative mold compound material for selected products available in 8L, 14L, 16L, 18L, 20L, 28L, 40L PDIP and 28L SPDIP packages at MMT assembly site using gold (Au) wire.Pre Change:Using GE800 mold compound material.Post Change:Using GE800 mold compound material or using G600V mold compound material.Reason for Change:To improve on time delivery performance by qualifying G600V as an addition/alternative mold compound material for selected PDIP and SPDIP packages at MMT assembly site. Because of factory shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must quickly implement this change or risk not having material to ship. Estimated First Ship Date:April 30, 2020 (date code: 2018)
Urgent PCN: Discontinuance of UNIB assembly site (Unisem Batam) as a qualified location for selected products available in 8/14/16L PDIP, 20/28L SSOP, and 14/16/20L SOIC, packagesDescription of Change: Due to unforeseen circumstances, that are out of Microchip’s control, for some of the products affected full qualification will be made available at a date after shipment from a different location as Microchip plans to continue to fulfill orders by shipping product from other assembly locations as soon as possible as to not disrupt customer ordersReason for Change:Due to unforeseen business conditions the UNIB location will be discontinued by Unisem as an assembly site. Effective immediately

Features & Applications
The MIC38C43YN are fixed frequency, high performance, current-mode PWM controllers. Micrel’s BiCMOS devices are pin compatible with 3843YN bipolar devices but feature several improvements. Undervoltage lockout circuitry allows the ’42 and ’44 versions to start up at 14.5 V and operate down to 9 V, and the ’43 and ’45 versions start at 8.4 V with operation down to 7.6 V. All versions operate up to 20 V.
When compared to bipolar 384x devices operating from a 15 V supply, start-up current has been reduced to 50 µA typical and operating current has been reduced to 4.0 mA typical. Decreased output rise and fall times drive larger MOSFETs, and rail-to-rail output capability increases efficiency, especially at lower supply voltages. The MIC38C43YN also features a trimmed oscillator discharge current and bandgap reference. MIC38C43YN denotes 8-pin plastic DIP, SOIC, and MM8™ packages. MIC38C4x-1 denotes 14-pin plastic DIP and SOIC packages. 8-pin devices feature small size, while 14-pin devices separate the analog and power connections for improved performance and power dissipation. For fast rise and fall times and higher output drive, refer to the MIC38HC4x.
