STMicroelectronics Intelligent Power Modules (IPM) Implement 10A Power Stage for Three-Phase Motors
The STGIF7CH60TS Intelligent Power Module (IPM) from STMicroelectronics is a 10A, 600V three-phase inverter for use as the power stage of efficient and robust motor drives.
Part of the second series of ST’s SLLIMM™ (Small Low-loss Intelligent Moulded Module) family of IPMs, the STMicroelectronics STGIF7CH60TS-L enables designers to simply implement a high-performance AC motor drive with a single component.
The STGIF7CH60TS-L features new proprietary control ICs on the low and high sides and improved trench gate field-stop IGBTs which can withstand short circuits. This Intelligent Power Module is housed in an SDIP2F package with a footprint of 38mm x 24mm and is ideal for use in motor drives operating at up to 20kHz in hard-switching topologies.

The STEVAL-IPM07F kit is a compact, 700W motor-drive power board based on the STGIF7CH60TS-L IPM. The board is notable for its small size, moderate bill-of-materials and high efficiency.
The STEVAL-IPM07F kit includes an interface circuit, bootstrap capacitors, snubber capacitor, hardware short-circuit protection, fault event signalling and temperature monitoring. It works in single- or three-shunt configurations and with two current-sensing options: either three dedicated onboard operational amplifiers, or via op amps embedded in the host microcontroller.
The system offers fast and accurate current-feedback conditioning, meeting most of the requirements for field-oriented control schemes used in brushless DC motors. The STEVAL-IPM07F is compatible with ST’s STM32-based control board.
