Features and Applications
Cypress' PSoC(R) Mixed-Signal Arrays are programmable systems-on-chips that integrate a microcontroller and the analog and digital components that typically surround it in an embedded system. A single PSoC device can integrate as many as 100 peripheral functions with a microcontroller, saving customers design time, board space, power consumption, and from 5 cents to as much as $10 in system costs.
The PSoC Core is a powerful engine that supports a rich feature set. The core includes a CPU, memory, clocks, and configurable GPIO (General Purpose IO). The M8C CPU core is a powerful processor with speeds up to 12 MHz, providing a two MIPS 8-bit Harvard architecture micro-processor. The CPU utilizes an interrupt controller with 17 vectors, to simplify programming of real time embedded events. Program execution is timed and protected using the included Sleep and Watch Dog Timers (WDT). Memory includes 16 KB of Flash for program storage and 256 bytes of SRAM for data storage. Program Flash utilizes four protection levels on blocks of 64 bytes, allowing customized software IP protection. This device is available in both lead and lead free packages.
