Melexis MLX90427 Triaxis® Mainstream Rotary & Joystick Position Sensor IC (SPI)
Versatile, contactless position sensing with advanced stray field immunity and robust safety features
The MLX90427 by Melexis is a cutting-edge monolithic magnetic position sensor IC designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern automotive and industrial applications. Based on Triaxis® Hall technology, the sensor features a magnetic front end sensitive to three magnetic flux density components (Bx, By, and Bz). Combined with an integrated analog-to-digital signal conditioner, advanced digital signal processing (DSP), and a high-speed SPI output stage, the MLX90427 delivers precise, contactless position sensing even in challenging electromagnetic environments.
The MLX90427 offers exceptional flexibility with four distinct operating modes: Rotary 360°, Rotary 360° with SFI, joystick, and raw data. A hybrid mode combines these functions, further expanding its adaptability for complex designs.
Engineered for embedded applications, the MLX90427 is designed to interface directly with a nearby microcontroller using an SPI protocol. It supports 5V and 3.3V systems, operates across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +160°C, and ensures high robustness against stray magnetic fields up to 5 mT in compliance with ISO 11452-8.
Melexis’ MLX90427 features enhanced self-diagnostic capabilities and complies with ISO 26262 ASIL C SEooC functional safety standards. Available in SOIC-8 single die or TSSOP-16 dual die (for full redundancy), it is AEC-Q100 qualified and RoHS compliant, meeting strict automotive quality and reliability requirements.
