What is an Amplifier?
An amplifier is used in order to increase the power of a signal. This is done by using energy from a power supply and controlling the output to match the signal input’s shape but with larger amplitude. Amplifiers can be specified according to their input and output properties. Amplifiers have some kind of gain that relates the magnitude of the output signal to the input signal. The gain in analog amplifiers is specified in decibels (dB), whereas the gain bandwidth is in Hertz.
Types of Amplifiers
There are several different kinds of amplifiers at Future Electronics. We stock many of the most common types categorized by several parameters including gain, nominal gain bandwidth, output power, maximum supply voltage, number of channels, nominal slew rate, maximum input offset voltage and packaging type. Our parametric filters will allow you to refine your search results according to the required specifications.
Amplifiers from Future Electronics
Future Electronics has a wide range of programmable amplifiers from several manufacturers. Once you decide if you need an audio, differential output, high speed, low noise, operational / general purpose, programmable gain, variable gain or video amplifier, you will be able to choose from their technical attributes and your search results will be narrowed to match your specific amplifier application needs.
We deal with several manufacturers such as Maxim, Microchip, New Japan Radio, ON Semiconductor, NXP, STMicroelectronics, ROHM Semiconductor. You can easily refine your amplifier product search results by clicking your preferred amplifier brand from the list of manufacturers below.
Applications for Amplifiers:
Applications for audio amplifiers include home audio systems, concert and theatrical sound reinforcement and public address systems.
Video amplifiers can be used to improve the quality and resolution of TVs, DVRs, computer monitors, set-top boxes and video signals from security cameras. They can also be used in order to improve the video quality of screens installed in vehicles and smart phones. In addition, video amplifiers are used in video switchers and routers and as a pulse amplifier in communications.
Variable gain amplifiers are useful in order to tame signals exhibiting a wide dynamic range. A good example would be mobile phone receivers.
Operational amps are very widely used in electronic devices and can be found in several consumers, industrial and scientific applications and are widely used as building blocks for circuit design.
Common applications for programmable gain amplifiers are motor control, signal and sensor conditioning, as well as in bar code readers and digital cameras.
Low noise amplifiers are used in various applications such as ISM radios, cellular and PCS handsets, wireless LANs, wireless Data, GPS receivers, cordless phones and automotive remote keyless entry devices.
High speed amplifiers are found in several applications including battery-powered and high-speed systems, communication & video test equipment, portable medical instrumentation and radar and sonar applications.
Differential amplifiers can be found in many circuits that use series negative feedback. A common application is the control of servos or motor and for signal amplification applications.
Choosing the Right Amplifier:
With the FutureElectronics.com parametric search, when looking for the right amplifiers, you can filter the results by category. We carry the following categories of amplifiers:
- Audio Amplifiers
- Differential Output Amplifiers
- High Speed Amplifiers
- Low Noise Amplifiers
- Operational / General Purpose Amplifiers
- Programmable Gain Amplifiers
- Variable Gain Amplifiers
- Video Amplifiers
Once you choose the amplifier category, you can narrow them down by various attributes: by gain, output power, nominal gain bandwidth, maximum supply voltage, nominal slew rate and number of channels, to name a few. You will be able to find the right differential output, audio, high speed, operational / general purpose, variable gain, programmable gain, low noise or video amplifier by using these filters.
