EiceDRIVER™ 1ED314xMU12F Isolated Gate Driver IC

Power switches require optimum gate drive solutions. Infineon’s EiceDRIVER™ galvanically isolated gate drivers are designed for applications that require high performance and state of the art robustness, including solar inverters, EV chargers, industrial drives, energy storage systems, UPS and more. The 1ED314x is part of the new, easy-to-design X3 Compact family with 2-level slow-rate-control and Miller clamp functions in small packages like DSO-8. Providing driving capabilities up to 6.5 A, these gate drivers are ideal for applications using traditional switches such as IGBTs or MOSFETs but also for leading-edge technologies such as SiC MOSFETs or IGBT7.

The input logic pins operate on a wide input voltage range from 3 V to 6.5 V using CMOS threshold levels to support 3.3 microcontrollers.

Data transfer across the isolation barrier is realized by the coreless transformer technology. All variants have input and output undervoltage lockout (UVLO) and active shutdown.

Evaluation Board

To evaluate the 1ED3142MU12F designers can use the EVAL-1ED3142MU12F-SIC in half-bridge configuration with two 1ED3142MU12F gate driver ICs to drive power switches such as IGBTs, MOSFETs and SiC MOSFETs.

This board comes pre-populated with two CoolSiC™ MOSFET IMZA120R020M1H, an additional gate driver IC is used for isolated over-current feedback signal from high voltage side to logic control side, fast operational amplifier is used as comparator for over-current detection. It is best suited for double-pulse testing.

The 1ED3142MU12F offers separate sink and source output, accurate and stable timing, active shutdown to ensure a safe power transistor off-state in case the output chip is not connected to the power, short-circuit clamping to limit the gate voltage during short circuit. The driver can operate over a wide supply voltage range, either unipolar or bipolar.

Infineon’s S7 and S7A families of 600V CoolMOS™ superjunction MOSFETs address the needs of slow switching industrial and automotive applications including solid state circuit breakers, inverter stages, on-board chargers and HV eFuse.

The new MOSFET design, not being focused on switching losses, allows the CoolMOS™ S7/A to offer cost-optimized, distinctively low on-resistance (RDS(on)) values, ideally suited for applications looking to minimize conduction losses at the best price.

New devices in the CoolMOS™ S7/A portfolio - IPQC60R010S7, IPQC60R017S7A and IPDQ60R017S7A - lead the way for power density with distinctively low RDS(on) in innovative top-side-cooled (TSC) or bottom-side-cooled (BSC) QDPAK packages.

TLE9012DQU & TLE9015DQU Battery Monitoring Transceiver ICs

The effectiveness of electric vehicles and renewable energy systems largely depends on the performance of the batteries. Efficient battery management reduces the demand for energy by improving overall performance while increasing reliability. Through accurate measurement of voltages and temperatures inside the battery and reliably communicating them to the main controller, Infineon’s TLE9012DQU and TLE9015DQU solutions optimize performance and contribute to the carbon footprint reduction of BMS systems.

Typical BMS Diagram
