The OP830SL is a NPN silicon photodarlington, available in through hole TO-18 package.
This device is normally used in applications where light signal levels are low and more current gain is needed than is possible with phototransistors. It is mounted in hermetically sealed packages and the norrow receiving angle provides excellent on-axis coupling.
