ROHM's BD91xx series of step-down switching regulators offers simplicity and flexibility without sacrificing performance.  Compact designs are achievable due to a high level of integration (less than 10 passive components required) and a variety of small packaging options.  BD91xx regulators are fixed oscillation frequency devices, so there is no external timing circuitry, and the pass transistor segment of the output stage has been pulled inside, thus eliminating the need for FET selection.  Output voltage is set through the configuration of a simple voltage divider in the feedback loop.

The BD91xx series provides high efficiency power conversion using synchronous rectification and a proprietary pulse skip control technology.  These ICs employ a current mode control system to provide a fast transient response to sudden changes in load conditions, and they possess the ability to maintain conversion levels above 60% (typ.) under light loading.  BD91xx regulators are manufactured to be in compliance with numerous industry substance removal initiatives.

The BD9141MUV has a single-channel output and comes in a VQFN020V4040 package (4.0×4.0×1.0mm).  The supply voltage range is 4.5V to 13.2V.  It has a variable output voltage of 2.5V to 6.0V, a maximum rated output current of 2.0A, and a fixed 500 kHz oscillation frequency.  This part is Lead-Free/RoHS compliant.
